HAVANA, October 31 (Reinaldo Cosano Alén) - Agents of the Department
of State Security searched the home of dissident Pacheco Ávila and
confiscated several items on October 26, in Ciego de Ávila province.
Among the confiscated items were a videotape of the debate between Cuban
parliamentary leader Ricardo Alarcón and Cuban exile leader Jorge Mas
Canosa, a copy of the platform of the Democratic Solidarity Party, and several
copies of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
Juan Carlos González, a fellow dissident, said that "Ávila
has been threatened and his telephone is subject to frequent interruptions,
because thats the means we use to get information about Cuban reality out
to Radio Martí, in the U. S."
