Havana, Nov 18, IRNA-PL-Pool -- Cuban experts will meet in
December at the 1st Environment Technological Forum to examine the effects
of actions by Cuban socio-economic sectors to minimize environmental
problems.
In press statements, Jorge Mario Garcia, director of the
Information, Action and Environment Center, reported that December 8 and 9
representatives from various ministries would debate those actions related
to the environment's protection.
Included in the meeting will be Ministries of Agriculture, Basic
Industry, Tourism, Public Health and the National Water Resources
Institute.
The event will have roundtable discussions on: Clean Production,
Environment Recognition and Enterprise Improvement, Efficient Use of Water and
Efficient Utilization of Sugarcane Residuals.
He recalled that since 1997 Cuba has had its own National
Environmental Strategy, a program to solve the main environmental problems,
based on sustainability.
Garcia reported that since the creation of these strategies, progress
has been made in their application.
