Tehran, Aug 7, IRNA -- President Mohammad Khatami here on Tuesday
received the outgoing Cuban Ambassador to Tehran Dario De Urra
Torriente.
At the meeting, Khatami described the relations between Iran and Cuba
from the early days of the Islamic Revolution as brotherly and friendly and
said that the relations entered a new phase in the past four year.
Referring to the exchange of visits between the high ranking
officials of the two countries and describing it as a turning point in
Tehran-Havana relations, the president underlined the need for expansion
of all-out relations mainly in the economic, commercial,
technical and scientific fields.
Highlighting the extension of sanctions against Iran and Cuba by the
U.S., he called the sanction illogical, immoral and against international
rules and principles and is considered as blatant interference by the
U.S. in the internal affairs of countries.
The Cuban ambassador, for his part, referred to the exchange of
visits between the high ranking officials and called it a sign of
willingness of Iranian and Cuban officials to further broaden and
consolidate mutual relations.
In conclusion, he praised President Khatami for his role in
upgrading the level of bilateral ties and establishing stability in the
Middle East region. |
