- Mrs. Yolanda Triana Estupiñán,
wife of political prisoner Orlando Fundora
Álvarez, detained and sanctioned
to 18 years in jail in the wave of repression
which began last March, continues to be
a victim of harassments and threats on the
part of the State Security.
According to Estupiñán, not
only will she be arrested and convicted
under Law 88 if she attended a reception
given by the Polish Embassy in Havana on
Friday, November 14; but her husband who
is suffering from an intestinal thrombosis
in jail, will also pay the consequences.
This was the threat she received from a
State Security official that goes by the
name of Omar.
"I have waited for over three months
for an answer as to when will my husband
be transferred to a facility to be operated
from an intestinal thrombosis for the second
time. The first surgery performed last September
7th, but was botched due to wrong treatments
and lack of medical assistance" stated
Estupiñán to correspondents
of Lux Info Press. She went on to say that
"on November 13 when I arrived at el
Combinado del Este to inquire about my husband's
health, Lieutenant Colonel Rojas of the
DSE informed me that they had transferred
him to the Hospital Julio Trigo". Afterwards,
she was asked to show up at the above mentioned
hospital at 1:00 pm on Friday the 14th.
State Security official informed Estupiñán
that they will not allow her to continue
diffusing news over the telephone.
As of 10:24 PM, of November 13th, Hospital
officials denied to Lux Info Press all information
as to the admission of the political prisoner
Orlando Fundora to that medical facility.
Reported: Correspondents
of Lux Info Press in Havana Gilberto Figueredo
Alvarez and Ada Kaly Márquez, also,
National Coordinator of the Democratic Party
November 30 "Frank País".
