CUBA, Havana. Adolfo Fernandes, PRIMA's
correspondent in Havana, who was sentenced
to 15 years in prison for "anti-state
activities", has been transferred from
an isolation cell to a communal cell in
the Olgin prison.
According to reports from Havana, Adolfo
Fernandes Sainz has lifted his hunger strike,
which he, together with other political
prisoners from the prison, had maintained
since the 18th October. There is no information
on whether other political prisoners are
continuing the hunger strike.
Meanwhile the prison authorities at Olgin
have abolished the political prisoners'
weekly telephone calls to their families.
At the same time the political prisoners
have been allowed meetings once every six
weeks, as set out under Cuban law for all
prisoners.
